Services

What we do for Tresmeer and what it costs

The eight core services below each have a page for Tresmeer; specialist and advisory services are delivered nationally and are listed further down. Every fee is fixed and confirmed in writing before work starts.

Why IGI

Working with Tresmeer businesses

We built the service around what business owners in places like Tresmeer actually complain about: not knowing what the accountant will charge, finding out about a deadline after it has passed, and receiving a set of accounts with no explanation. Each is fixed by design: fixed fees, deadline tracking shown on every page, and a plain-English summary with every draft for Tresmeer clients.

Nothing for Tresmeer is left to the last week. Each deadline relevant to self assessment tax returns is tracked from the day you join, with the next four shown on every page we send you.

One fixed fee for self assessment tax returns in Tresmeer, agreed in writing before any work starts and never changed part-way through the job, however long it takes us.

A named person handles your self assessment tax returns from Tresmeer and knows the file, so you are not re-explaining your business to a different helpdesk each time.

Worth knowing

Rules that affect most businesses here

Closing a company

Striking off a company is cheap but must be done in order: stop trading, file the final accounts and CT600, pay the tax, close VAT and PAYE, distribute the remaining assets, close the bank account, then apply. Anything left in the company at dissolution passes to the Crown. Distributions up to £25,000 are taxed as capital gains; above that a formal liquidation is usually needed to keep capital treatment.

Switching accountants

You can switch accountant at any point in the year. The new firm requests clearance and your records from the old one, which cannot withhold your own documents though it may hold its own working papers until its fees are settled. Agent authorisations with HMRC and Companies House are transferred, and the next deadline is picked up without a gap.

Corporation Tax rates and marginal relief

Since April 2023 there have been two Corporation Tax rates, 19% small profits and 25% main, with marginal relief smoothing the transition between £50,000 and £250,000 of profit. The band is where planning matters: each pound of profit in it is taxed at an effective 26.5%, so pension contributions and capital expenditure timed to keep profit below £50,000 are worth more than they look.

Workplace pensions and auto-enrolment

Workplace pension compliance is part of payroll, not separate from it. Each pay period the payroll assesses who is eligible, calculates employer and employee contributions on qualifying earnings between the lower and upper thresholds, and sends the contribution file to the scheme. The minimum total is 8%, and many employers choose to contribute more as a recruitment advantage.

The VAT registration threshold

VAT registration is compulsory once taxable turnover in any rolling twelve-month period exceeds £90,000, or when you expect to exceed that in the next thirty days alone. The test is rolling, not by tax year, and includes zero-rated sales. Businesses regularly cross it without noticing, and late registration means accounting for VAT on sales where it was never charged to customers.

Questions

Questions from Tresmeer

I already have an accountant in Tresmeer. How hard is it to switch?

It takes about two weeks and costs nothing extra. You authorise us, we write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, and we transfer the agent authorisations. We pick up the next filing without a gap. You do not need to wait for a year end, and we tell you honestly if switching mid-job would be awkward.

Can you deal with HMRC and Companies House for me?

Yes. Once you authorise us as your agent, HMRC and Companies House correspond with us about the filings we make for your Tresmeer business, and we can see your accounts and respond on your behalf. Authorisation is free and takes a few days to activate. Routine correspondence about work we have filed is handled at no extra charge.

Why are the fees the same in Tresmeer as in London?

Because the cost of an accountant is mostly premises and that is a cost we do not have. The work is done online by UK-based staff, so a client in Tresmeer pays exactly the published fee, as does a client in central London or a Highland village. The fee is confirmed in writing before anything starts.

Which services are available in Tresmeer?

Every service on this page is available to businesses and individuals in Tresmeer, at the fee shown. Core compliance work, accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and company formation, is listed with its own local page. Specialist services such as R&D, crypto tax and HMRC enquiry support are national services delivered the same way from anywhere in the UK.

Which deadlines matter most for self assessment tax returns?

For Tresmeer clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.
