Questions
Fees and payment
Are your fees really fixed?
Yes. The fee for each service is published on this site, confirmed to you in writing before work starts, and does not change if the work takes longer than expected. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we tell you at the quote stage. The invoice matches the quote.
When do I pay?
One-off work is invoiced when you approve the draft, before we file. Monthly packages are collected monthly. Companies House fees are invoiced alongside our fee and passed on at cost. There is no deposit.
Do you charge for phone calls or questions?
No. Questions during the work are part of the service. A question that becomes a separate piece of work, such as a tax planning review, is quoted as a fixed fee before we start.
Are the fees the same everywhere in the UK?
Yes. We have no regional offices, so there is no regional pricing. A client in a Highland village pays what a client in central London pays.
What are the extra Companies House fees?
Companies House charges its own fees for some filings: £100 to incorporate, £50 for a confirmation statement, £20 for a name change, £13 for a strike-off. We show them separately and never mark them up. Director, PSC and address changes carry no Companies House fee.
Can I cancel a monthly package?
Yes, with one month's notice. We complete any filing already in progress at the agreed fee and hand over your records and software access promptly.
Questions
How the service works
Do I ever need to visit an office?
No. We are an online-only firm. Records come by WhatsApp or email, drafts go back for approval, and filing is electronic. There is no office to visit and nothing needs printing or posting.
Who will handle my work?
A named person who knows your file and answers in UK working hours, usually within a few hours. The same person handles your work from year to year wherever possible.
Is anything filed without my approval?
Never. Every draft goes to you with a plain-English summary. You review it, ask questions and approve it, and only then do we submit. You receive the HMRC or Companies House receipt the same day.
How quickly do you turn work around?
A straightforward tax return within five working days of complete records; company accounts within two to three weeks; most Companies House filings the same day. At peak times we tell you your turnaround when you book.
How do you track deadlines?
Every page on this site shows the next dates that apply to the service, calculated from today. For clients we diarise every deadline from the day they join and send reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each.
What records do I need to keep?
Income records, expense receipts, bank statements, and any HMRC or Companies House letters, for at least five years after the filing deadline for individuals and six years for companies. Digital copies are acceptable. We send a one-page guide for your situation.
Questions
Switching and authorisation
How do I switch from my current accountant?
You authorise us, we write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, and we transfer the agent authorisations with HMRC. It takes about two weeks, costs nothing extra and can happen at any point in the year.
Can you speak to HMRC for me?
Yes, once you have authorised us as your agent, which is free and takes a few days. We can then see your account, respond to letters about work we filed, and deal with routine correspondence at no extra charge.
Can my previous accountant withhold my records?
Not your own documents, such as bank statements, invoices and copies of filed returns. A firm may hold its own working papers until its fees are paid. Most hand over within two weeks of our clearance letter.
Do you work with partnerships and LLPs?
Yes. Partnerships need a partnership return plus each partner's own return; LLPs file accounts with Companies House as well. We quote a fixed fee for the set based on the number of partners.
Questions
About IGI Accounting
Who is behind IGI Accounting?
IGI Accounting is a trading name of IGI Security Services Ltd, company number 15881180, registered in England and Wales. The registered office is in London and the company's filing history is public on the Companies House register, linked in the footer.
Why do you not show professional body logos or reviews?
Because we would rather be judged on things you can verify. The company number is public and checkable; our fees are published; our process is described on every page. We do not display qualifications, review scores, client numbers or prizes.
Do you give tax advice?
We give advice on established reliefs and allowances as part of our services and in fixed-fee planning reviews, in writing. We do not sell tax avoidance schemes. Our advice disclaimer explains how to rely on what we say.
Is my data safe?
Records are held on encrypted systems within the UK and EU, retained for the periods tax law requires, and never shared except with HMRC, Companies House and the software providers you use. Our privacy policy and GDPR page set out the detail and your rights.
Do you cover Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?
Yes, every postcode. Scottish income tax bands, Welsh rates, the Northern Ireland Companies House register and the Windsor Framework VAT rules are handled correctly for clients in those nations.
What if something goes wrong?
Tell us. Our complaints procedure sets out how we acknowledge, investigate and respond, with timescales. We would rather hear it than lose you over it.
Still have a question?
Ask it by WhatsApp or email. There is no charge for asking.
