Why IGI

Working with Tanlan Banks businesses

An online firm suits Tanlan Banks because the things that matter in accounting, accuracy, deadlines, clear explanations and a known price, do not depend on geography. What does depend on geography is overhead, and by not carrying it we charge Tanlan Banks clients the published fee and nothing more, with every submission approved by you before it goes.

Online only, UK based. There is no office in Tanlan Banks to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in Wales; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.

Continuity matters in self assessment tax returns: the person who prepared last year's work for your Tanlan Banks business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.

No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Tanlan Banks clients know the fee for self assessment tax returns before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.

Local facts

About Tanlan Banks

Tanlan Banks sits in Wales. Welsh taxpayers pay Welsh rates of income tax, set by the Senedd and currently matching the English bands, collected under a C-prefixed tax code. National Insurance, VAT and Corporation Tax are UK-wide. Property purchases in Wales pay Land Transaction Tax to the Welsh Revenue Authority rather than Stamp Duty, with its own bands and rates.

Worth knowing

Rules that affect most businesses here

Confirmation statements and identity verification

Every company must file a confirmation statement at least once a year, within fourteen days of its review date, with a £50 Companies House fee. Since November 2025 directors and people with significant control must also verify their identity with Companies House, and the confirmation statement is where existing officers confirm they have done so during the transition year.

CIS deductions

The Construction Industry Scheme affects both sides of a construction payment. Contractors must verify subcontractors, deduct the right amount, issue statements and file monthly, with penalties from £100 for each late return. Subcontractors suffer deductions on turnover and recover the excess at the year end. Limited company subcontractors offset deductions against PAYE monthly instead.

The Self Assessment calendar

Self Assessment runs on a fixed annual cycle. Registration by 5 October following the tax year, online filing and payment by 31 January, and a second instalment on 31 July for those making payments on account. The penalties for lateness are automatic and escalate monthly, which is why we file early and chase approvals well before the window closes.

Payments on account

Payments on account catch out most people in their second year of self-employment. HMRC assumes next year's tax will match this year's and collects half in January and half in July, in advance, on top of the balancing payment. If profits are dropping you can apply to reduce them, but reducing them too far attracts interest. We calculate the right figure rather than guessing.

Late filing penalties

Penalties are the clearest reason to work to deadlines. A Self Assessment return one day late costs £100 regardless of whether any tax is due; three months late adds £10 a day. Late company accounts start at £150 and reach £1,500, and double if the previous year was also late. None of this is negotiable afterwards except through a narrow reasonable-excuse appeal.

Questions

Questions from Tanlan Banks

Are your fees inclusive of everything?

Our fee covers the work described for the package. Companies House fees, such as £100 to incorporate or £50 for a confirmation statement, are charged separately and passed on at cost. Software subscriptions are in your own name. There is nothing else: no hourly extras, no charge for questions, and no additional year-end invoice for Tanlan Banks clients on monthly packages.

What if my Tanlan Banks business is a partnership or an LLP?

Both are covered. Partnerships need a partnership return and a Self Assessment for each partner; LLPs file accounts with Companies House under company-style rules as well. We quote a fixed fee for the set based on the number of partners or members, and the process is the same as for any other client in Tanlan Banks: records in, draft out, approve, filed.

Do you work with businesses in Wales that are not in Tanlan Banks itself?

Yes. Every place in Wales has its own page on this site and the same fees apply throughout. The nearest-places list on this page links to them. Wherever in Wales your business is based, the service is identical because none of it depends on where you are.

Can you deal with HMRC and Companies House for me?

Yes. Once you authorise us as your agent, HMRC and Companies House correspond with us about the filings we make for your Tanlan Banks business, and we can see your accounts and respond on your behalf. Authorisation is free and takes a few days to activate. Routine correspondence about work we have filed is handled at no extra charge.

Which deadlines matter most for self assessment tax returns?

The next four dates that apply to self assessment tax returns are shown at the top of this page, calculated from today. For Tanlan Banks clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.

How do I get started from Tanlan Banks?

Message us on WhatsApp or email with a sentence about your business and what you need. We reply in working hours with any questions and a fixed fee for self assessment tax returns. Once you confirm, we tell you exactly which records to send and the work begins. Most Tanlan Banks clients are set up within a day.
