Why IGI
Working with Ockbrook businesses
Clients in Ockbrook are not a branch or a territory to us; they are files handled by the same team that serves the rest of the UK, at the same price. The fee you see is confirmed in writing before work starts. The dates you see are diarised and chased. And the person who prepares your first return is the person who prepares the next one.
No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Ockbrook clients know the fee for self assessment tax returns before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.
We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Ockbrook get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to self assessment tax returns.
Online only, UK based. There is no office in Ockbrook to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.

Worth knowing
Rules that affect most businesses here
Crypto records and reporting
HMRC treats cryptoassets as property. Swapping one token for another, spending crypto or gifting it are all disposals for Capital Gains Tax, and staking and lending rewards are income. Gains are computed under pooling rules with same-day and 30-day matching. From 2026 HMRC receives data from exchanges worldwide under the Cryptoasset Reporting Framework, so unreported activity is increasingly visible.
Late filing penalties
HMRC's penalties for a late Self Assessment return are automatic: £100 the day after 31 January, £10 a day from three months late up to £900, then the greater of £300 or 5% of the tax at six and twelve months. Interest and separate late-payment penalties apply to the tax itself. Companies House charges £150 to £1,500 for late accounts, doubling for a second consecutive year.
The 60-day property CGT return
The 60-day Capital Gains Tax return on residential property is the deadline landlords most often miss, because it falls outside the Self Assessment cycle and runs from completion, not exchange. Private residence relief for periods you lived in the property, plus the final nine months, reduces the gain. Penalties for a late return mirror Self Assessment, starting at £100.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
The biggest change to Self Assessment in a generation is Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, now live for higher-earning sole traders and landlords and arriving for the rest in stages. Quarterly updates are due by 7 August, 7 November, 7 February and 7 May, built from digital records. The practical consequence is that spreadsheet-and-shoebox bookkeeping is ending for anyone above the threshold.
Record keeping
HMRC requires records of all income and expenses, bank statements, invoices and receipts to be kept for at least five years after the 31 January filing deadline of the tax year they relate to, and companies must keep records for six years from the end of the accounting period. Digital copies are acceptable. Under Making Tax Digital the records must be kept in compatible software.
Questions
Questions from Ockbrook
Why are the fees the same in Ockbrook as in London?
Because the cost of an accountant is mostly premises and that is a cost we do not have. The work is done online by UK-based staff, so a client in Ockbrook pays exactly the published fee, as does a client in central London or a Highland village. The fee is confirmed in writing before anything starts.
Can you deal with HMRC and Companies House for me?
Yes. Once you authorise us as your agent, HMRC and Companies House correspond with us about the filings we make for your Ockbrook business, and we can see your accounts and respond on your behalf. Authorisation is free and takes a few days to activate. Routine correspondence about work we have filed is handled at no extra charge.
I already have an accountant in Ockbrook. How hard is it to switch?
It takes about two weeks and costs nothing extra. You authorise us, we write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, and we transfer the agent authorisations. We pick up the next filing without a gap. You do not need to wait for a year end, and we tell you honestly if switching mid-job would be awkward.
What if my Ockbrook business is a partnership or an LLP?
Both are covered. Partnerships need a partnership return and a Self Assessment for each partner; LLPs file accounts with Companies House under company-style rules as well. We quote a fixed fee for the set based on the number of partners or members, and the process is the same as for any other client in Ockbrook: records in, draft out, approve, filed.
Do you have an office in Ockbrook?
No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Ockbrook and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for self assessment tax returns is the same in Ockbrook as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.
Is self assessment tax returns in Ockbrook really the same price as elsewhere?
Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Ockbrook pays and what a client in any other part of England pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.
Ready to fix your fee in Ockbrook?
Tell us what you need. You get one fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you approve it.
