Why IGI
Working with Mathri businesses
An online firm suits Mathri because the things that matter in accounting, accuracy, deadlines, clear explanations and a known price, do not depend on geography. What does depend on geography is overhead, and by not carrying it we charge Mathri clients the published fee and nothing more, with every submission approved by you before it goes.
You stay in control of self assessment tax returns: drafts go to Mathri clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.
Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Mathri comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.
Deadline-first: the dates that matter for self assessment tax returns are shown at the top of this page, diarised for every Mathri client and chased before they arrive.

About Mathri
Mathri sits in Wales. Businesses in Wales file with the same HMRC and Companies House as England, and for now the Welsh rates of income tax equal the English ones, though the Senedd can vary them. The practical differences are Land Transaction Tax on property and Welsh-specific business support schemes, and company names and documents may be in Welsh.

Worth knowing
Rules that affect most businesses here
Workplace pensions and auto-enrolment
Every employer must assess its workers for automatic enrolment from the first employee's start date. Those aged 22 to State Pension age earning over £10,000 a year must be enrolled into a qualifying pension with minimum contributions of 8% of qualifying earnings, at least 3% from the employer, and a declaration of compliance made to the Pensions Regulator within five months.
Employer National Insurance
The cost of an employee is more than the salary. Employer National Insurance at 15% above £5,000 a year, the 3% minimum pension contribution, holiday pay, equipment and management time all come on top. The Employment Allowance of £10,500 reduces the National Insurance for most employers with more than one person on the payroll.
The trading and property allowances
The first £1,000 of trading income and, separately, the first £1,000 of property income each year is tax free under the trading and property allowances. Below those figures no return is needed for that income. Above them you can deduct the £1,000 allowance instead of actual expenses if that is better, which suits side businesses and single-room lets with few costs.
Dormant companies
A dormant company is one with no significant accounting transactions in the year, where the only permitted entries are the payment for shares on incorporation, Companies House fees and penalties. It still files a confirmation statement and simplified dormant accounts every year. A bank charge or an accountant's fee paid from the company ends dormancy and requires full accounts.
CIS deductions
CIS turns construction subcontractors into advance taxpayers: a fifth of every labour payment goes to HMRC before they see it. Registering keeps the rate at 20% rather than 30%; gross payment status, for established businesses with a clean record, removes deductions altogether. The annual return is where the overpayment comes back, and filing it early brings the refund sooner.
Questions
Questions from Mathri
Are your fees inclusive of everything?
Our fee covers the work described for the package. Companies House fees, such as £100 to incorporate or £50 for a confirmation statement, are charged separately and passed on at cost. Software subscriptions are in your own name. There is nothing else: no hourly extras, no charge for questions, and no additional year-end invoice for Mathri clients on monthly packages.
How quickly do you respond?
In UK working hours, usually within a few hours and always the same working day. Each Mathri client has a named contact who knows the file. Outside working hours, WhatsApp and email messages are picked up first thing the next morning. In January and at other peak times we tell you your turnaround when you book rather than leaving you guessing.
Do you work with businesses in Wales that are not in Mathri itself?
Yes. Every place in Wales has its own page on this site and the same fees apply throughout. The nearest-places list on this page links to them. Wherever in Wales your business is based, the service is identical because none of it depends on where you are.
What if my Mathri business is a partnership or an LLP?
Both are covered. Partnerships need a partnership return and a Self Assessment for each partner; LLPs file accounts with Companies House under company-style rules as well. We quote a fixed fee for the set based on the number of partners or members, and the process is the same as for any other client in Mathri: records in, draft out, approve, filed.
How do I get started from Mathri?
Message us on WhatsApp or email with a sentence about your business and what you need. We reply in working hours with any questions and a fixed fee for self assessment tax returns. Once you confirm, we tell you exactly which records to send and the work begins. Most Mathri clients are set up within a day.
Which deadlines matter most for self assessment tax returns?
The next four dates that apply to self assessment tax returns are shown at the top of this page, calculated from today. For Mathri clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.
Fixed fees, filed on time, for Mathri
Tell us what you need. You get one fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you approve it.
