Why IGI

Working with Elms Estate businesses

An online firm suits Elms Estate because the things that matter in accounting, accuracy, deadlines, clear explanations and a known price, do not depend on geography. What does depend on geography is overhead, and by not carrying it we charge Elms Estate clients the published fee and nothing more, with every submission approved by you before it goes.

Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Elms Estate comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.

You stay in control of self assessment tax returns: drafts go to Elms Estate clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.

The price for self assessment tax returns is published on this page and is what a client in Elms Estate pays. We confirm it in writing first, and the invoice matches the quote.

Worth knowing

Rules that affect most businesses here

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax began in April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000, extends to those over £30,000 in April 2027 and is planned for £20,000 in April 2028. It requires digital records in compatible software and four quarterly updates to HMRC each year, with a final declaration replacing the traditional return. Payment dates are unchanged.

The Self Assessment calendar

The tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April. Anyone new to Self Assessment must register by 5 October after the end of the tax year in which their untaxed income began. The online return and the balancing payment are due by 31 January, with a second payment on account on 31 July where they apply. Paper returns have an earlier deadline of 31 October and are rarely sensible.

Payments on account

A common surprise in Self Assessment is the January payment that is far larger than expected. That is the balancing payment for the year just ended plus the first payment on account for the year ahead, which HMRC sets at half of the bill just calculated. We put the figure in your hands months ahead and tell you how to adjust it legitimately when circumstances change.

Confirmation statements and identity verification

Companies House has tightened its requirements under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act: every company needs a registered email address and an appropriate registered office, every statement includes a lawful-purpose declaration, and every director and PSC must verify their identity. The confirmation statement, due annually with a £50 fee, is where most of this is confirmed.

CIS deductions

CIS turns construction subcontractors into advance taxpayers: a fifth of every labour payment goes to HMRC before they see it. Registering keeps the rate at 20% rather than 30%; gross payment status, for established businesses with a clean record, removes deductions altogether. The annual return is where the overpayment comes back, and filing it early brings the refund sooner.

Questions

Questions from Elms Estate

What if my Elms Estate business is a partnership or an LLP?

Both are covered. Partnerships need a partnership return and a Self Assessment for each partner; LLPs file accounts with Companies House under company-style rules as well. We quote a fixed fee for the set based on the number of partners or members, and the process is the same as for any other client in Elms Estate: records in, draft out, approve, filed.

Do you work with businesses in North West that are not in Elms Estate itself?

Yes. Every place in North West has its own page on this site and the same fees apply throughout. The nearest-places list on this page links to them. Wherever in England your business is based, the service is identical because none of it depends on where you are.

How quickly do you respond?

In UK working hours, usually within a few hours and always the same working day. Each Elms Estate client has a named contact who knows the file. Outside working hours, WhatsApp and email messages are picked up first thing the next morning. In January and at other peak times we tell you your turnaround when you book rather than leaving you guessing.

Are your fees inclusive of everything?

Our fee covers the work described for the package. Companies House fees, such as £100 to incorporate or £50 for a confirmation statement, are charged separately and passed on at cost. Software subscriptions are in your own name. There is nothing else: no hourly extras, no charge for questions, and no additional year-end invoice for Elms Estate clients on monthly packages.

Do you have an office in Elms Estate?

No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Elms Estate and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for self assessment tax returns is the same in Elms Estate as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.

Is self assessment tax returns in Elms Estate really the same price as elsewhere?

Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Elms Estate pays and what a client in any other part of England pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.
