Why IGI

Working with East Field businesses

Clients in East Field, North Yorkshire are not a branch or a territory to us; they are files handled by the same team that serves the rest of the UK, at the same price. The fee you see is confirmed in writing before work starts. The dates you see are diarised and chased. And the person who prepares your first return is the person who prepares the next one.

Continuity matters in self assessment tax returns: the person who prepared last year's work for your East Field business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.

Online only, UK based. There is no office in East Field to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.

We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in East Field, North Yorkshire get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to self assessment tax returns.

Worth knowing

Rules that affect most businesses here

Closing a company

Striking off a company is cheap but must be done in order: stop trading, file the final accounts and CT600, pay the tax, close VAT and PAYE, distribute the remaining assets, close the bank account, then apply. Anything left in the company at dissolution passes to the Crown. Distributions up to £25,000 are taxed as capital gains; above that a formal liquidation is usually needed to keep capital treatment.

Switching accountants

The main reasons people switch accountant are surprise invoices, missed deadlines and not understanding what they are being told. Switching involves a clearance letter between the firms, a transfer of records and agent authorisations, and a short handover of the current position. It takes about two weeks and should cost nothing extra.

The trading and property allowances

The first £1,000 of trading income and, separately, the first £1,000 of property income each year is tax free under the trading and property allowances. Below those figures no return is needed for that income. Above them you can deduct the £1,000 allowance instead of actual expenses if that is better, which suits side businesses and single-room lets with few costs.

Dormant companies

Companies formed to protect a name or hold a future business are dormant but not exempt: Companies House still expects dormant accounts within nine months of the year end and a confirmation statement annually with its £50 fee, and HMRC must be told the company is dormant or it will demand Corporation Tax returns. The filings are short, but the penalties for missing them are the same as for a trading company.

Workplace pensions and auto-enrolment

Every employer must assess its workers for automatic enrolment from the first employee's start date. Those aged 22 to State Pension age earning over £10,000 a year must be enrolled into a qualifying pension with minimum contributions of 8% of qualifying earnings, at least 3% from the employer, and a declaration of compliance made to the Pensions Regulator within five months.

Questions

Questions from East Field

How quickly do you respond?

In UK working hours, usually within a few hours and always the same working day. Each East Field client has a named contact who knows the file. Outside working hours, WhatsApp and email messages are picked up first thing the next morning. In January and at other peak times we tell you your turnaround when you book rather than leaving you guessing.

Why are the fees the same in East Field as in London?

Because the cost of an accountant is mostly premises and that is a cost we do not have. The work is done online by UK-based staff, so a client in East Field, North Yorkshire pays exactly the published fee, as does a client in central London or a Highland village. The fee is confirmed in writing before anything starts.

Which services are available in East Field?

Every service on this page is available to businesses and individuals in East Field, North Yorkshire, at the fee shown. Core compliance work, accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and company formation, is listed with its own local page. Specialist services such as R&D, crypto tax and HMRC enquiry support are national services delivered the same way from anywhere in the UK.

I already have an accountant in East Field. How hard is it to switch?

It takes about two weeks and costs nothing extra. You authorise us, we write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, and we transfer the agent authorisations. We pick up the next filing without a gap. You do not need to wait for a year end, and we tell you honestly if switching mid-job would be awkward.

Is self assessment tax returns in East Field really the same price as elsewhere?

Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in East Field, North Yorkshire pays and what a client in any other part of England pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.

Do you have an office in East Field?

No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve East Field, North Yorkshire and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for self assessment tax returns is the same in East Field as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.
