What we do for Annahilt and what it costs

The eight core services below each have a page for Annahilt; specialist and advisory services are delivered nationally and are listed further down. Every fee is fixed and confirmed in writing before work starts.

Why IGI

Working with Annahilt businesses

We built the service around what business owners in places like Annahilt actually complain about: not knowing what the accountant will charge, finding out about a deadline after it has passed, and receiving a set of accounts with no explanation. Each is fixed by design: fixed fees, deadline tracking shown on every page, and a plain-English summary with every draft for Annahilt clients.

You stay in control of self assessment tax returns: drafts go to Annahilt clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.

Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Annahilt comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.

You get one contact for self assessment tax returns, not a queue. Annahilt clients message the same person throughout and get an answer in working hours, usually within a few hours.

Local facts

About Annahilt

Annahilt sits in Northern Ireland, postcode district BT26. Tax for Northern Ireland businesses and individuals matches the rest of the UK in almost every respect: UK income tax bands, UK National Insurance, UK Corporation Tax, Stamp Duty Land Tax. The exception is VAT on goods, where the Windsor Framework arrangements for trade with the Republic of Ireland and the EU create specific rules that online sellers and distributors need handled correctly.

Worth knowing

Rules that affect most businesses here

Allowable expenses

The expenses sole traders most often miss are home working costs, claimed by actual proportion or HMRC's flat rate, the business share of phone and internet, mileage at 45p for the first 10,000 business miles, and training that maintains existing skills. The ones most often claimed wrongly are commuting, entertaining customers and clothes that could be worn outside work.

Director's loan accounts

Money taken from a company has to be something: salary, dividend, expense reimbursement or loan. If it is a loan and remains outstanding nine months after the year end, the company pays tax at the dividend higher rate on it until it is repaid. Clearing the balance with a properly declared dividend before the deadline, where reserves allow, is routine year-end work.

Record keeping

Good records are the difference between a quick enquiry and a long one. For the self-employed, five years after the filing deadline; for companies, six years from the year end; for VAT, six years. Photographs of receipts, PDF statements and software exports all count. The requirement is to keep records, not paper, and a well-organised cloud folder satisfies it.

Salary versus dividends

Directors of their own companies usually take a salary at or just above the National Insurance thresholds, which keeps the year qualifying for State Pension and is deductible for Corporation Tax, with further income as dividends. Dividends above the £500 allowance are taxed at 10.75%, 35.75% and 39.35% by band and can only be paid from distributable profits after tax, with a minute and voucher each time.

The 60-day property CGT return

Since April 2020 a gain on UK residential property must be reported and the tax paid within 60 days of completion through HMRC's dedicated service, separately from the annual return. Non-residents must report all UK land disposals in the same window whether or not tax is due. Getting the computation right first time matters because the figure is then carried into the Self Assessment.

Questions

Questions from Annahilt

Do you work with businesses in Northern Ireland that are not in Annahilt itself?

Yes. Every place in Northern Ireland has its own page on this site and the same fees apply throughout. The nearest-places list on this page links to them. Wherever in Northern Ireland your business is based, the service is identical because none of it depends on where you are.

What if my Annahilt business is a partnership or an LLP?

Both are covered. Partnerships need a partnership return and a Self Assessment for each partner; LLPs file accounts with Companies House under company-style rules as well. We quote a fixed fee for the set based on the number of partners or members, and the process is the same as for any other client in Annahilt: records in, draft out, approve, filed.

Are your fees inclusive of everything?

Our fee covers the work described for the package. Companies House fees, such as £100 to incorporate or £50 for a confirmation statement, are charged separately and passed on at cost. Software subscriptions are in your own name. There is nothing else: no hourly extras, no charge for questions, and no additional year-end invoice for Annahilt clients on monthly packages.

How quickly do you respond?

In UK working hours, usually within a few hours and always the same working day. Each Annahilt client has a named contact who knows the file. Outside working hours, WhatsApp and email messages are picked up first thing the next morning. In January and at other peak times we tell you your turnaround when you book rather than leaving you guessing.

Is self assessment tax returns in Annahilt really the same price as elsewhere?

Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Annahilt pays and what a client in any other part of Northern Ireland pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.

Do you have an office in Annahilt?

No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Annahilt and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for self assessment tax returns is the same in Annahilt as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.
