How it works

Cash-Flow Forecasting from Halifax, step by step

  1. Tell us your situation

A short message or call about what you do and what needs filing. We ask the questions that determine the right package and nothing more.

  2. Fixed fee in writing

You receive one price for the work, confirmed by email before anything starts. It does not change if the job takes longer than we expected.

  3. Send records, review the draft

Records come by WhatsApp or email. We prepare the draft, explain the figures in plain English and answer your questions.

  4. We file, you get the receipts

Once you approve and the fee is settled, we submit electronically and forward the HMRC or Companies House acknowledgement the same day.

Why IGI

Why Halifax businesses file with IGI

No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Halifax clients know the fee for cash-flow forecasting before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.

We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Halifax get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to cash-flow forecasting.

We serve Halifax remotely by design: records by WhatsApp or email, drafts back for approval, filing electronic. The saving on premises is passed to you in the fee for cash-flow forecasting.

A named person handles your cash-flow forecasting from Halifax and knows the file, so you are not re-explaining your business to a different helpdesk each time.

We explain cash-flow forecasting in the words Halifax business owners use, not in accountant's shorthand, and we show our working so you can check it.

Nothing is filed for Halifax until you have reviewed and approved it. You see the draft, you ask questions, you sign off, then we submit and send you the receipt.

Worth knowing

Rules that come up in this work

Switching accountants

The main reasons people switch accountant are surprise invoices, missed deadlines and not understanding what they are being told. Switching involves a clearance letter between the firms, a transfer of records and agent authorisations, and a short handover of the current position. It takes about two weeks and should cost nothing extra.

Closing a company

Striking off a company is cheap but must be done in order: stop trading, file the final accounts and CT600, pay the tax, close VAT and PAYE, distribute the remaining assets, close the bank account, then apply. Anything left in the company at dissolution passes to the Crown. Distributions up to £25,000 are taxed as capital gains; above that a formal liquidation is usually needed to keep capital treatment.

Employer National Insurance

The cost of an employee is more than the salary. Employer National Insurance at 15% above £5,000 a year, the 3% minimum pension contribution, holiday pay, equipment and management time all come on top. The Employment Allowance of £10,500 reduces the National Insurance for most employers with more than one person on the payroll.

Workplace pensions and auto-enrolment

Workplace pension compliance is part of payroll, not separate from it. Each pay period the payroll assesses who is eligible, calculates employer and employee contributions on qualifying earnings between the lower and upper thresholds, and sends the contribution file to the scheme. The minimum total is 8%, and many employers choose to contribute more as a recruitment advantage.

Dormant companies

A dormant company is one with no significant accounting transactions in the year, where the only permitted entries are the payment for shares on incorporation, Companies House fees and penalties. It still files a confirmation statement and simplified dormant accounts every year. A bank charge or an accountant's fee paid from the company ends dormancy and requires full accounts.

The trading and property allowances

Not every small income needs a tax return. The trading allowance exempts the first £1,000 of self-employment or casual income and the property allowance does the same for rental income, each measured on gross receipts. They cannot be combined with rent-a-room relief on the same income, and claiming the allowance means giving up the expense deduction for that source.

Crypto records and reporting

Most crypto holders have taxable events they do not recognise, because every swap is a disposal even when no pounds change hands. The computation requires the complete transaction history from every exchange and wallet, pooled by asset with HMRC's matching rules applied. Exchange-generated tax reports are frequently wrong because they cannot see transfers between a user's own wallets.

Questions

Cash-Flow Forecasting questions from Halifax

What happens after the forecast is delivered?

You receive the model, a briefing call to walk through it, and a written note of the assumptions and the pinch points we see. You can run it yourself from there, or take the £99 monthly refresh so we keep it live. Many clients start with a one-off forecast and move to the retainer once they see its value.

How quickly can you produce a forecast?

A 13-week forecast within five working days of receiving your data; a 12-month forecast with scenarios within ten. Funding packs depend on the lender's format but typically two weeks. If you have a deadline for an application, tell us when you book and we plan backwards from it.

Can a forecast show me whether I can afford a hire or a purchase?

Yes, that is one of its main uses. We add the hire or purchase as a scenario and show the cash effect month by month, including the point at which it pays for itself if it does. Decisions that look fine on a profit basis often fail on cash timing, and the forecast shows where.

How do seasonal businesses use forecasting?

To see the trough. Seasonal businesses typically make their profit in a few months and spend the rest of the year surviving on it, with VAT and tax payments falling in the quiet period. The 12-month forecast shows how deep the trough goes and whether a facility is needed to bridge it, well before the bank does.

What does the 12-month forecast add?

The £349 forecast extends the horizon to a year, monthly, with three scenarios: base case, a downside with slower sales or payment, and an upside, so you can see the cash effect of the things that might happen. It includes a profit and loss and balance sheet forecast alongside the cash, and is the basis for the funding pack.

What is the monthly refresh retainer?

For £99 a month we replace each month's forecast with the actual figures, roll the horizon forward, update the assumptions for what has changed and send you the refreshed forecast with a short note on the movements. A forecast that is not refreshed is out of date within weeks; the retainer keeps it live.

Do you have an office in Halifax?

No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Halifax and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for cash-flow forecasting is the same in Halifax as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.

Is cash-flow forecasting in Halifax really the same price as elsewhere?

Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Halifax pays and what a client in any other part of England pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.
