A short message or call about what you do and what needs filing. We ask the questions that determine the right package and nothing more.

Why IGI

What you get in Beaufort Park

No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Beaufort Park clients know the fee for cash-flow forecasting before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.

We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Beaufort Park get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to cash-flow forecasting.

Online only, UK based. There is no office in Beaufort Park to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.

Continuity matters in cash-flow forecasting: the person who prepared last year's work for your Beaufort Park business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.

Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Beaufort Park comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.

You stay in control of cash-flow forecasting: drafts go to Beaufort Park clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.

Worth knowing

Rules that come up in this work

The Self Assessment calendar

The tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April. Anyone new to Self Assessment must register by 5 October after the end of the tax year in which their untaxed income began. The online return and the balancing payment are due by 31 January, with a second payment on account on 31 July where they apply. Paper returns have an earlier deadline of 31 October and are rarely sensible.

Payments on account

A common surprise in Self Assessment is the January payment that is far larger than expected. That is the balancing payment for the year just ended plus the first payment on account for the year ahead, which HMRC sets at half of the bill just calculated. We put the figure in your hands months ahead and tell you how to adjust it legitimately when circumstances change.

Late filing penalties

HMRC's penalties for a late Self Assessment return are automatic: £100 the day after 31 January, £10 a day from three months late up to £900, then the greater of £300 or 5% of the tax at six and twelve months. Interest and separate late-payment penalties apply to the tax itself. Companies House charges £150 to £1,500 for late accounts, doubling for a second consecutive year.

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax began in April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000, extends to those over £30,000 in April 2027 and is planned for £20,000 in April 2028. It requires digital records in compatible software and four quarterly updates to HMRC each year, with a final declaration replacing the traditional return. Payment dates are unchanged.

Dormant companies

A dormant company is one with no significant accounting transactions in the year, where the only permitted entries are the payment for shares on incorporation, Companies House fees and penalties. It still files a confirmation statement and simplified dormant accounts every year. A bank charge or an accountant's fee paid from the company ends dormancy and requires full accounts.

The trading and property allowances

Not every small income needs a tax return. The trading allowance exempts the first £1,000 of self-employment or casual income and the property allowance does the same for rental income, each measured on gross receipts. They cannot be combined with rent-a-room relief on the same income, and claiming the allowance means giving up the expense deduction for that source.

Employer National Insurance

Employers pay National Insurance at 15% on each employee's earnings above the £5,000 secondary threshold, following the April 2025 changes. The Employment Allowance offsets up to £10,500 of this for eligible employers, which for a small team often removes the liability entirely, but companies where the director is the only employee do not qualify.

Questions

Cash-Flow Forecasting questions from Beaufort Park

Can a forecast show me whether I can afford a hire or a purchase?

Yes, that is one of its main uses. We add the hire or purchase as a scenario and show the cash effect month by month, including the point at which it pays for itself if it does. Decisions that look fine on a profit basis often fail on cash timing, and the forecast shows where.

How do seasonal businesses use forecasting?

To see the trough. Seasonal businesses typically make their profit in a few months and spend the rest of the year surviving on it, with VAT and tax payments falling in the quiet period. The 12-month forecast shows how deep the trough goes and whether a facility is needed to bridge it, well before the bank does.

What is in the funding-application pack?

For £299: a 12-month forecast with monthly cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheet, an assumptions schedule, sensitivity analysis showing what happens if sales fall or costs rise by set percentages, and a narrative explaining the business and the use of funds in the terms lenders and grant bodies use. We brief you on the questions they will ask.

Will banks accept your forecasts?

Yes. Lenders see forecasts constantly and recognise one built from real data with documented assumptions. Grant bodies and investors likewise. We produce covenant calculations and any specific format a lender requires, and we are happy to speak to the lender with you about the assumptions.

Why do forecasts usually go wrong?

Three reasons: they assume customers pay on the due date, they forget tax dates, and they are never updated. We model actual payment behaviour from your history, place VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and Self Assessment payments on their real dates, and offer the refresh retainer so the forecast stays current.

Do I need bookkeeping with you to have a forecast?

No, but the data must exist. We build forecasts from any reasonably kept accounting file plus bank data. If the bookkeeping is behind, we say so first, because a forecast built on stale records is worthless. Clients in our bookkeeping service have the data ready by default.

Which deadlines matter most for cash-flow forecasting?

For Beaufort Park clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.
