Management accounts in Weymouth
Statutory accounts tell a Weymouth business how last year went, nine months after it ended. Management accounts tell you how this month went, two weeks after it ended, with a commentary explaining why. We produce them from your bookkeeping on a fixed working day each period, for a published fee, with the adjustments that make the figures true.

Why IGI
The IGI way of working, in Weymouth
No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Weymouth clients know the fee for management accounts before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.
Deadline-first: the dates that matter for management accounts are shown at the top of this page, diarised for every Weymouth client and chased before they arrive.
Online only, UK based. There is no office in Weymouth to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.
You get one contact for management accounts, not a queue. Weymouth clients message the same person throughout and get an answer in working hours, usually within a few hours.
We explain management accounts in the words Weymouth business owners use, not in accountant's shorthand, and we show our working so you can check it.

Worth knowing
Rules that come up in this work
Payments on account
Payments on account catch out most people in their second year of self-employment. HMRC assumes next year's tax will match this year's and collects half in January and half in July, in advance, on top of the balancing payment. If profits are dropping you can apply to reduce them, but reducing them too far attracts interest. We calculate the right figure rather than guessing.
The Self Assessment calendar
The tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April. Anyone new to Self Assessment must register by 5 October after the end of the tax year in which their untaxed income began. The online return and the balancing payment are due by 31 January, with a second payment on account on 31 July where they apply. Paper returns have an earlier deadline of 31 October and are rarely sensible.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
MTD for Income Tax replaces one annual return with quarterly digital updates and a year-end declaration, submitted from software. The threshold is gross trading and property income, measured two years earlier, and started at £50,000 in April 2026 before falling to £30,000 in April 2027. Anyone affected needs digital record keeping in place before their start date, not after.
Late filing penalties
Lateness is expensive in a way that compounds. For individuals, £100 immediately, then daily penalties, then percentage-based ones at six and twelve months, with interest running on unpaid tax throughout. For companies, Companies House penalties scale with delay and double on repeat, and HMRC adds its own for a late CT600. Filing on time is the cheapest tax planning there is.
Corporation Tax rates and marginal relief
Since April 2023 there have been two Corporation Tax rates, 19% small profits and 25% main, with marginal relief smoothing the transition between £50,000 and £250,000 of profit. The band is where planning matters: each pound of profit in it is taxed at an effective 26.5%, so pension contributions and capital expenditure timed to keep profit below £50,000 are worth more than they look.
The VAT registration threshold
The £90,000 VAT threshold is measured over any twelve consecutive months, which is why a strong quarter can tip a business over unexpectedly. Registration must follow within thirty days of the end of the month the threshold was crossed. Below the threshold, voluntary registration is worth considering when customers are VAT-registered businesses and costs carry VAT.
Director's loan accounts
Money taken from a company has to be something: salary, dividend, expense reimbursement or loan. If it is a loan and remains outstanding nine months after the year end, the company pays tax at the dividend higher rate on it until it is repaid. Clearing the balance with a properly declared dividend before the deadline, where reserves allow, is routine year-end work.
Questions
Management Accounts questions from Weymouth
What is the review call?
A 30 to 45 minute video call each period in the £199 package to go through the pack, discuss what it shows and what decisions it points to. It is the part clients value most, because numbers on a page do not ask questions and we do.
Can you compare against a budget?
Yes, if you have one. If you do not, we compare against the same period last year and, if you want one, help you build a simple budget as part of the first quarter. Variance against budget is the most useful single comparison in the pack once a budget exists.
Which KPIs do you report?
Those that drive your business, agreed at the start: gross margin by product or service line, revenue per employee, debtor days, stock turn, cash runway, utilisation for a service firm, average order value for a retailer. We recommend a short list and refine it over the first quarter. A dashboard with twenty numbers is one nobody reads.
When does the pack arrive?
On a fixed working day agreed with you, typically the 10th to 15th of the following month for monthly packs, provided the bookkeeping is complete by the 5th. Quarterly packs follow the quarter end on the same basis. If your records arrive late the date moves and we tell you.
What adjustments do you make to the bookkeeping figures?
Accruals for costs incurred but not yet invoiced, prepayments for costs paid in advance, depreciation on fixed assets, stock movements where you hold inventory, and the Corporation Tax charge accruing. Without these the profit figure swings with payment timing and says little about performance.
Do I need bookkeeping with you to have management accounts?
It is simplest if we do the bookkeeping because the figures are current and we know the file, but we can produce management accounts from a well-kept file maintained by you or another bookkeeper. The pack is only as good as the bookkeeping, so if the records are behind we say so first.
How do I get started from Weymouth?
Message us on WhatsApp or email with a sentence about your business and what you need. We reply in working hours with any questions and a fixed fee for management accounts. Once you confirm, we tell you exactly which records to send and the work begins. Most Weymouth clients are set up within a day.
Which deadlines matter most for management accounts?
The next four dates that apply to management accounts are shown at the top of this page, calculated from today. For Weymouth clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.
