Why IGI
Why Uxbridge businesses file with IGI
One fixed fee for small business accountants in Uxbridge, agreed in writing before any work starts and never changed part-way through the job, however long it takes us.
We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Uxbridge get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to small business accountants.
Online only, UK based. There is no office in Uxbridge to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.
You get one contact for small business accountants, not a queue. Uxbridge clients message the same person throughout and get an answer in working hours, usually within a few hours.
The output for Uxbridge clients is never just a form. It is the form, a one-page summary of what it says, and a note of the decisions it points to for small business accountants.
Nothing is filed for Uxbridge until you have reviewed and approved it. You see the draft, you ask questions, you sign off, then we submit and send you the receipt.

Worth knowing
Rules that come up in this work
CIS deductions
The Construction Industry Scheme affects both sides of a construction payment. Contractors must verify subcontractors, deduct the right amount, issue statements and file monthly, with penalties from £100 for each late return. Subcontractors suffer deductions on turnover and recover the excess at the year end. Limited company subcontractors offset deductions against PAYE monthly instead.
Confirmation statements and identity verification
Companies House has tightened its requirements under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act: every company needs a registered email address and an appropriate registered office, every statement includes a lawful-purpose declaration, and every director and PSC must verify their identity. The confirmation statement, due annually with a £50 fee, is where most of this is confirmed.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
MTD for Income Tax replaces one annual return with quarterly digital updates and a year-end declaration, submitted from software. The threshold is gross trading and property income, measured two years earlier, and started at £50,000 in April 2026 before falling to £30,000 in April 2027. Anyone affected needs digital record keeping in place before their start date, not after.
Late filing penalties
Penalties are the clearest reason to work to deadlines. A Self Assessment return one day late costs £100 regardless of whether any tax is due; three months late adds £10 a day. Late company accounts start at £150 and reach £1,500, and double if the previous year was also late. None of this is negotiable afterwards except through a narrow reasonable-excuse appeal.
Payments on account
If your Self Assessment bill exceeds £1,000 and less than 80% of your tax was collected at source, HMRC asks for two advance payments towards the following year, each half of the current bill, due 31 January and 31 July. The first year this happens the January payment is effectively one and a half times the bill. We model it in advance and show you how to reduce the payments if income is falling.
The Self Assessment calendar
The tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April. Anyone new to Self Assessment must register by 5 October after the end of the tax year in which their untaxed income began. The online return and the balancing payment are due by 31 January, with a second payment on account on 31 July where they apply. Paper returns have an earlier deadline of 31 October and are rarely sensible.
Director's loan accounts
A director's loan account records money moving between a director and the company that is not salary or dividend. If the director owes the company money nine months and one day after the year end, the company pays section 455 tax at 35.75% of the balance, refundable only when the loan is repaid. Loans over £10,000 are also a benefit in kind unless interest is charged at HMRC's official rate.
Questions
Small Business Accountants questions from Uxbridge
How do you work with a business that takes cash?
Cash takings are recorded from your till reports or daily summaries and reconciled to bankings, with the difference explained. HMRC pays particular attention to cash businesses, so clear records matter. We set up a simple daily routine and review it monthly for gaps.
What happens if I want to leave?
One month's notice. We complete any filing already in progress at the agreed fee, hand over your records and software access promptly, and provide professional clearance to your new accountant. Your software subscription is in your name so your data goes with you.
Do you charge for phone calls and questions?
No. The monthly fee covers questions during the year. We would rather you ask before making a decision than pay us to unpick it afterwards. Formal advisory work, such as a tax planning review or a cash-flow forecast, is a separate fixed-fee product and we tell you when something falls into that category.
How does switching from my current accountant work?
You authorise us, we write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, and they are obliged to hand over your own documents. Most do within two weeks. We pick up the bookkeeping where they left off and take over the next filing. There is no charge for the switch.
What if my transaction volume is higher than the package covers?
We check the volume from your bank statements before quoting and tell you the right band. If the business grows and the volume increases, we review quarterly and adjust from the next month with notice. There is no back-charging for a busy period.
Can you handle a partnership?
Yes. Partnerships need a partnership tax return showing the profit split and each partner's own Self Assessment. The Core package covers the partnership return and bookkeeping; each partner's personal return is added at the published £129. LLPs follow company-style accounts rules and we handle those too.
Is small business accountants in Uxbridge really the same price as elsewhere?
Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Uxbridge pays and what a client in any other part of England pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.
Do you have an office in Uxbridge?
No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Uxbridge and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for small business accountants is the same in Uxbridge as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.
