Why IGI
What you get in Pien
The price for limited company accounts is published on this page and is what a client in Pien pays. We confirm it in writing first, and the invoice matches the quote.
Deadline-first: the dates that matter for limited company accounts are shown at the top of this page, diarised for every Pien client and chased before they arrive.
Online only, UK based. There is no office in Pien to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in Scotland; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.
Continuity matters in limited company accounts: the person who prepared last year's work for your Pien business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.
The output for Pien clients is never just a form. It is the form, a one-page summary of what it says, and a note of the decisions it points to for limited company accounts.
Approval before filing is a rule, not a courtesy. For limited company accounts in Pien, every submission to HMRC or Companies House follows your written go-ahead.

About Pien
Pien is in Scotland, Scotland. Scottish taxpayers pay income tax under six Scottish bands set by the Scottish Parliament, from the 19% starter rate through 20%, 21%, 42% and 45% to the 48% top rate, applied to non-savings income. Dividends and savings are taxed at UK rates, National Insurance and Corporation Tax are UK-wide, and property purchases pay Land and Buildings Transaction Tax.

Rules that come up in this work
Switching accountants
Changing accountant is simpler than most people fear. You authorise the new firm, which writes to the old one for professional clearance and your records; the outgoing accountant must hand over your own documents and usually does within two weeks. The new firm registers as your agent with HMRC and picks up the next filing. There is no need to wait for a year end.
Closing a company
A solvent company that has finished its purpose can be dissolved by voluntary strike-off: form DS01 with a £13 Companies House fee, after three months without trading and with all debts paid, final accounts and tax return filed, and assets distributed. HMRC objects to any application where returns or tax are outstanding, so the sequence matters more than the form.
Crypto records and reporting
Most crypto holders have taxable events they do not recognise, because every swap is a disposal even when no pounds change hands. The computation requires the complete transaction history from every exchange and wallet, pooled by asset with HMRC's matching rules applied. Exchange-generated tax reports are frequently wrong because they cannot see transfers between a user's own wallets.
The 60-day property CGT return
The 60-day Capital Gains Tax return on residential property is the deadline landlords most often miss, because it falls outside the Self Assessment cycle and runs from completion, not exchange. Private residence relief for periods you lived in the property, plus the final nine months, reduces the gain. Penalties for a late return mirror Self Assessment, starting at £100.
Record keeping
Good records are the difference between a quick enquiry and a long one. For the self-employed, five years after the filing deadline; for companies, six years from the year end; for VAT, six years. Photographs of receipts, PDF statements and software exports all count. The requirement is to keep records, not paper, and a well-organised cloud folder satisfies it.
Allowable expenses
An expense is allowable against trading profit if it is incurred wholly and exclusively for the business. Materials, business travel other than ordinary commuting, a proportion of home running costs, software, insurance, professional fees, bank charges and protective clothing qualify. Client entertainment, ordinary clothing, fines and the private share of mixed-use costs do not.
Employer National Insurance
Employers pay National Insurance at 15% on each employee's earnings above the £5,000 secondary threshold, following the April 2025 changes. The Employment Allowance offsets up to £10,500 of this for eligible employers, which for a small team often removes the liability entirely, but companies where the director is the only employee do not qualify.
Questions
Limited Company Accounts questions from Pien
What rate of Corporation Tax will my company pay?
Profits up to £50,000 are taxed at the 19% small profits rate, profits over £250,000 at the 25% main rate, with marginal relief in between so the effective rate rises gradually. The thresholds are divided by the number of associated companies, which catches directors who own more than one company.
What if my year end is awkward or I want to change it?
You can shorten your accounting period as often as you like and extend it once every five years, by filing form AA01 with Companies House. Extending a period can push the first filing deadline back. We advise on this before the first year end if it helps, at no extra charge.
My company is dormant. Do I still need accounts?
Yes. A dormant company still files annual accounts with Companies House, in the simplified AA02 format, and a confirmation statement. Our dormant accounts fee is £49. HMRC usually does not require a CT600 once told the company is dormant, and we handle that notification.
Do you file with iXBRL?
Yes. Both Companies House and HMRC require accounts and computations in iXBRL format, which tags every figure electronically. We produce and validate the tagged files as part of the service; you never see or pay for this separately.
How do dividends work and how much can I take?
Dividends can only be paid from accumulated profits after Corporation Tax. We calculate the distributable reserves in your accounts and tell you the figure. Dividends need a board minute and a voucher each time; we provide templates. The personal tax on dividends depends on your other income, and the planning review covers that.
What is a director's loan account and why does it matter?
It records money moving between you and the company that is not salary or dividend. If you owe the company money at the year end and have not repaid it within nine months, the company pays 35.75% section 455 tax on the balance, refundable later. We review the account before finalising and tell you the options.
Do you have an office in Pien?
No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Pien and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for limited company accounts is the same in Pien as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.
Is limited company accounts in Pien really the same price as elsewhere?
Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Pien pays and what a client in any other part of Scotland pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.
