Why IGI
Working with Ilkley businesses
An online firm suits Ilkley because the things that matter in accounting, accuracy, deadlines, clear explanations and a known price, do not depend on geography. What does depend on geography is overhead, and by not carrying it we charge Ilkley clients the published fee and nothing more, with every submission approved by you before it goes.
We serve Ilkley remotely by design: records by WhatsApp or email, drafts back for approval, filing electronic. The saving on premises is passed to you in the fee for self assessment tax returns.
A named person handles your self assessment tax returns from Ilkley and knows the file, so you are not re-explaining your business to a different helpdesk each time.
One fixed fee for self assessment tax returns in Ilkley, agreed in writing before any work starts and never changed part-way through the job, however long it takes us.

Worth knowing
Rules that affect most businesses here
Confirmation statements and identity verification
The confirmation statement is the annual check that the public register is right: officers, registered office, SIC codes, shareholders and the PSC register. It carries a £50 fee and no financial penalty for lateness, but failure to file leads to compulsory strike-off. The identity verification regime introduced in November 2025 has added a further check to every statement.
CIS deductions
The Construction Industry Scheme affects both sides of a construction payment. Contractors must verify subcontractors, deduct the right amount, issue statements and file monthly, with penalties from £100 for each late return. Subcontractors suffer deductions on turnover and recover the excess at the year end. Limited company subcontractors offset deductions against PAYE monthly instead.
The Self Assessment calendar
Self Assessment runs on a fixed annual cycle. Registration by 5 October following the tax year, online filing and payment by 31 January, and a second instalment on 31 July for those making payments on account. The penalties for lateness are automatic and escalate monthly, which is why we file early and chase approvals well before the window closes.
Payments on account
If your Self Assessment bill exceeds £1,000 and less than 80% of your tax was collected at source, HMRC asks for two advance payments towards the following year, each half of the current bill, due 31 January and 31 July. The first year this happens the January payment is effectively one and a half times the bill. We model it in advance and show you how to reduce the payments if income is falling.
Late filing penalties
HMRC's penalties for a late Self Assessment return are automatic: £100 the day after 31 January, £10 a day from three months late up to £900, then the greater of £300 or 5% of the tax at six and twelve months. Interest and separate late-payment penalties apply to the tax itself. Companies House charges £150 to £1,500 for late accounts, doubling for a second consecutive year.
Questions
Questions from Ilkley
How quickly do you respond?
In UK working hours, usually within a few hours and always the same working day. Each Ilkley client has a named contact who knows the file. Outside working hours, WhatsApp and email messages are picked up first thing the next morning. In January and at other peak times we tell you your turnaround when you book rather than leaving you guessing.
Are your fees inclusive of everything?
Our fee covers the work described for the package. Companies House fees, such as £100 to incorporate or £50 for a confirmation statement, are charged separately and passed on at cost. Software subscriptions are in your own name. There is nothing else: no hourly extras, no charge for questions, and no additional year-end invoice for Ilkley clients on monthly packages.
What if my Ilkley business is a partnership or an LLP?
Both are covered. Partnerships need a partnership return and a Self Assessment for each partner; LLPs file accounts with Companies House under company-style rules as well. We quote a fixed fee for the set based on the number of partners or members, and the process is the same as for any other client in Ilkley: records in, draft out, approve, filed.
Do you work with businesses in Yorkshire that are not in Ilkley itself?
Yes. Every place in Yorkshire has its own page on this site and the same fees apply throughout. The nearest-places list on this page links to them. Wherever in England your business is based, the service is identical because none of it depends on where you are.
Do you have an office in Ilkley?
No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Ilkley and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for self assessment tax returns is the same in Ilkley as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.
Is self assessment tax returns in Ilkley really the same price as elsewhere?
Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Ilkley pays and what a client in any other part of England pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.
