How it works

Small Business Accountants from Haringey, step by step

  1. Tell us your situation

A short message or call about what you do and what needs filing. We ask the questions that determine the right package and nothing more.

  2. Fixed fee in writing

You receive one price for the work, confirmed by email before anything starts. It does not change if the job takes longer than we expected.

  3. Send records, review the draft

Records come by WhatsApp or email. We prepare the draft, explain the figures in plain English and answer your questions.

  4. We file, you get the receipts

Once you approve and the fee is settled, we submit electronically and forward the HMRC or Companies House acknowledgement the same day.

Why IGI

What you get in Haringey

No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Haringey clients know the fee for small business accountants before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.

We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Haringey get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to small business accountants.

Online only, UK based. There is no office in Haringey to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.

Continuity matters in small business accountants: the person who prepared last year's work for your Haringey business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.

Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Haringey comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.

You stay in control of small business accountants: drafts go to Haringey clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.

Worth knowing

Rules that come up in this work

Confirmation statements and identity verification

Every company must file a confirmation statement at least once a year, within fourteen days of its review date, with a £50 Companies House fee. Since November 2025 directors and people with significant control must also verify their identity with Companies House, and the confirmation statement is where existing officers confirm they have done so during the transition year.

CIS deductions

The Construction Industry Scheme affects both sides of a construction payment. Contractors must verify subcontractors, deduct the right amount, issue statements and file monthly, with penalties from £100 for each late return. Subcontractors suffer deductions on turnover and recover the excess at the year end. Limited company subcontractors offset deductions against PAYE monthly instead.

The VAT registration threshold

The £90,000 VAT threshold is measured over any twelve consecutive months, which is why a strong quarter can tip a business over unexpectedly. Registration must follow within thirty days of the end of the month the threshold was crossed. Below the threshold, voluntary registration is worth considering when customers are VAT-registered businesses and costs carry VAT.

Corporation Tax rates and marginal relief

Since April 2023 there have been two Corporation Tax rates, 19% small profits and 25% main, with marginal relief smoothing the transition between £50,000 and £250,000 of profit. The band is where planning matters: each pound of profit in it is taxed at an effective 26.5%, so pension contributions and capital expenditure timed to keep profit below £50,000 are worth more than they look.

Salary versus dividends

The salary-and-dividend split is the central planning decision for an owner-managed company. Salary costs employer National Insurance above £5,000 but is deductible; dividends are not deductible but attract lower personal rates and no National Insurance. The optimum changes each April with the thresholds and depends on the director's other income, so it should be set deliberately every year.

Director's loan accounts

Money taken from a company has to be something: salary, dividend, expense reimbursement or loan. If it is a loan and remains outstanding nine months after the year end, the company pays tax at the dividend higher rate on it until it is repaid. Clearing the balance with a properly declared dividend before the deadline, where reserves allow, is routine year-end work.

The Self Assessment calendar

The tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April. Anyone new to Self Assessment must register by 5 October after the end of the tax year in which their untaxed income began. The online return and the balancing payment are due by 31 January, with a second payment on account on 31 July where they apply. Paper returns have an earlier deadline of 31 October and are rarely sensible.

Questions

Small Business Accountants questions from Haringey

What happens if I want to leave?

One month's notice. We complete any filing already in progress at the agreed fee, hand over your records and software access promptly, and provide professional clearance to your new accountant. Your software subscription is in your name so your data goes with you.

How do you work with a business that takes cash?

Cash takings are recorded from your till reports or daily summaries and reconciled to bankings, with the difference explained. HMRC pays particular attention to cash businesses, so clear records matter. We set up a simple daily routine and review it monthly for gaps.

Do I pay extra at year end?

No. The annual accounts and tax return are included in the monthly fee. The only additional costs are Companies House fees passed on at cost, your software subscription billed directly to you, and any separate advisory product you choose to buy.

Can my staff's payroll be weekly?

Yes. The Complete package covers payroll for up to five employees at any frequency, weekly, fortnightly or monthly, with payslips, RTI submissions, pension contributions and the monthly payment note to HMRC. Starters, leavers and statutory payments are included.

How does switching from my current accountant work?

You authorise us, we write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, and they are obliged to hand over your own documents. Most do within two weeks. We pick up the bookkeeping where they left off and take over the next filing. There is no charge for the switch.

Do you charge for phone calls and questions?

No. The monthly fee covers questions during the year. We would rather you ask before making a decision than pay us to unpick it afterwards. Formal advisory work, such as a tax planning review or a cash-flow forecast, is a separate fixed-fee product and we tell you when something falls into that category.

Which deadlines matter most for small business accountants?

The next four dates that apply to small business accountants are shown at the top of this page, calculated from today. For Haringey clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.

How do I get started from Haringey?
