Why IGI

The IGI way of working, in Furland

No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Furland clients know the fee for limited company accounts before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.

We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Furland get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to limited company accounts.

Online only, UK based. There is no office in Furland to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.

Continuity matters in limited company accounts: the person who prepared last year's work for your Furland business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.

Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Furland comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.

You stay in control of limited company accounts: drafts go to Furland clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.

Worth knowing

Rules that come up in this work

Confirmation statements and identity verification

Every company must file a confirmation statement at least once a year, within fourteen days of its review date, with a £50 Companies House fee. Since November 2025 directors and people with significant control must also verify their identity with Companies House, and the confirmation statement is where existing officers confirm they have done so during the transition year.

CIS deductions

Under the Construction Industry Scheme, contractors deduct 20% from a registered subcontractor's labour invoices, or 30% if unregistered, and pay it to HMRC. The subcontractor reclaims the deductions against their actual tax through Self Assessment, usually producing a refund because deductions are on turnover while tax is on profit. Contractors file a monthly return by the 19th.

The VAT registration threshold

The £90,000 VAT threshold is measured over any twelve consecutive months, which is why a strong quarter can tip a business over unexpectedly. Registration must follow within thirty days of the end of the month the threshold was crossed. Below the threshold, voluntary registration is worth considering when customers are VAT-registered businesses and costs carry VAT.

Corporation Tax rates and marginal relief

Since April 2023 there have been two Corporation Tax rates, 19% small profits and 25% main, with marginal relief smoothing the transition between £50,000 and £250,000 of profit. The band is where planning matters: each pound of profit in it is taxed at an effective 26.5%, so pension contributions and capital expenditure timed to keep profit below £50,000 are worth more than they look.

Salary versus dividends

Directors of their own companies usually take a salary at or just above the National Insurance thresholds, which keeps the year qualifying for State Pension and is deductible for Corporation Tax, with further income as dividends. Dividends above the £500 allowance are taxed at 10.75%, 35.75% and 39.35% by band and can only be paid from distributable profits after tax, with a minute and voucher each time.

Director's loan accounts

The most common tax problem in owner-managed companies is an overdrawn director's loan account: drawings taken during the year that were never declared as dividends or salary. The company faces a 35.75% charge on the balance outstanding nine months after the year end, and the director may have a benefit in kind. We review the account before every year end to clear it properly.

The Self Assessment calendar

Self Assessment runs on a fixed annual cycle. Registration by 5 October following the tax year, online filing and payment by 31 January, and a second instalment on 31 July for those making payments on account. The penalties for lateness are automatic and escalate monthly, which is why we file early and chase approvals well before the window closes.

Questions

Limited Company Accounts questions from Furland

My company is dormant. Do I still need accounts?

Yes. A dormant company still files annual accounts with Companies House, in the simplified AA02 format, and a confirmation statement. Our dormant accounts fee is £49. HMRC usually does not require a CT600 once told the company is dormant, and we handle that notification.

Do you file with iXBRL?

Yes. Both Companies House and HMRC require accounts and computations in iXBRL format, which tags every figure electronically. We produce and validate the tagged files as part of the service; you never see or pay for this separately.

Does the fee include Corporation Tax?

Yes. Both the £299 micro-entity and £449 small company packages include the Corporation Tax computation, the CT600 and electronic filing with HMRC. The standalone CT600 at £199 is for companies whose accounts are prepared elsewhere.

Can you include my personal tax return?

The £389 bundle covers micro-entity accounts, the CT600 and the director's Self Assessment return together. It is cheaper than buying them separately and ensures the dividends and salary on the personal return match the company's records exactly.

How do dividends work and how much can I take?

Dividends can only be paid from accumulated profits after Corporation Tax. We calculate the distributable reserves in your accounts and tell you the figure. Dividends need a board minute and a voucher each time; we provide templates. The personal tax on dividends depends on your other income, and the planning review covers that.

What is a director's loan account and why does it matter?

It records money moving between you and the company that is not salary or dividend. If you owe the company money at the year end and have not repaid it within nine months, the company pays 35.75% section 455 tax on the balance, refundable later. We review the account before finalising and tell you the options.

Which deadlines matter most for limited company accounts?

The next four dates that apply to limited company accounts are shown at the top of this page, calculated from today. For Furland clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.
