How it works

Small Business Accountants from Forestdale, step by step

  1. Tell us your situation

A short message or call about what you do and what needs filing. We ask the questions that determine the right package and nothing more.

  2. Fixed fee in writing

You receive one price for the work, confirmed by email before anything starts. It does not change if the job takes longer than we expected.

  3. Send records, review the draft

Records come by WhatsApp or email. We prepare the draft, explain the figures in plain English and answer your questions.

  4. We file, you get the receipts

Once you approve and the fee is settled, we submit electronically and forward the HMRC or Companies House acknowledgement the same day.

Why IGI

What you get in Forestdale

No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Forestdale clients know the fee for small business accountants before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.

We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Forestdale get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to small business accountants.

We serve Forestdale remotely by design: records by WhatsApp or email, drafts back for approval, filing electronic. The saving on premises is passed to you in the fee for small business accountants.

A named person handles your small business accountants from Forestdale and knows the file, so you are not re-explaining your business to a different helpdesk each time.

We explain small business accountants in the words Forestdale business owners use, not in accountant's shorthand, and we show our working so you can check it.

Nothing is filed for Forestdale until you have reviewed and approved it. You see the draft, you ask questions, you sign off, then we submit and send you the receipt.

Worth knowing

Rules that come up in this work

Employer National Insurance

Since April 2025 employer National Insurance has been 15% on earnings above a £5,000 secondary threshold, a substantial increase for small employers. The Employment Allowance rose to £10,500 at the same time to soften it for the smallest businesses. Directors deciding their own salary weigh this cost against the Corporation Tax deduction a salary provides.

Workplace pensions and auto-enrolment

Every employer must assess its workers for automatic enrolment from the first employee's start date. Those aged 22 to State Pension age earning over £10,000 a year must be enrolled into a qualifying pension with minimum contributions of 8% of qualifying earnings, at least 3% from the employer, and a declaration of compliance made to the Pensions Regulator within five months.

Dormant companies

Companies formed to protect a name or hold a future business are dormant but not exempt: Companies House still expects dormant accounts within nine months of the year end and a confirmation statement annually with its £50 fee, and HMRC must be told the company is dormant or it will demand Corporation Tax returns. The filings are short, but the penalties for missing them are the same as for a trading company.

The trading and property allowances

Small side incomes are covered by two £1,000 allowances, one for trading and one for property, which remove the need to register or report income below that level. Once income exceeds £1,000, the allowance can be used in place of expenses, a choice worth making deliberately: a freelancer with £900 of costs is better off with the allowance, one with £3,000 is not.

Crypto records and reporting

Crypto tax splits into capital gains on disposals and income on rewards, with different rates and different reporting. The £3,000 annual exempt amount and the 18% and 24% rates apply to gains; staking, mining and airdrop income is taxed at marginal income tax rates. HMRC's nudge letters to holders have increased sharply, and a voluntary disclosure before one arrives is treated far more leniently.

The 60-day property CGT return

The 60-day Capital Gains Tax return on residential property is the deadline landlords most often miss, because it falls outside the Self Assessment cycle and runs from completion, not exchange. Private residence relief for periods you lived in the property, plus the final nine months, reduces the gain. Penalties for a late return mirror Self Assessment, starting at £100.

Record keeping

Good records are the difference between a quick enquiry and a long one. For the self-employed, five years after the filing deadline; for companies, six years from the year end; for VAT, six years. Photographs of receipts, PDF statements and software exports all count. The requirement is to keep records, not paper, and a well-organised cloud folder satisfies it.

Questions

Small Business Accountants questions from Forestdale

What do management accounts add?

The Premium package at £185 delivers quarterly profit and loss, balance sheet and a written commentary on what moved and why, with the KPIs agreed for your business. It turns the bookkeeping into decision-making information rather than a filing input. Monthly management accounts are available through our advisory service.

What is the switching health check?

For £99 we review your current accounts, tax returns, VAT position, payroll setup and software, and give you a written report of what is right, what is wrong and what it is costing you. If you then join a package the £99 is refunded in your first month. If you do not, you keep the report.

What is in the £65 Core package?

Monthly bookkeeping from your bank feeds with receipts captured by phone, a monthly summary, your annual accounts and tax return (Corporation Tax and CT600 for a company, Self Assessment for a sole trader), the confirmation statement for a company (Companies House £50 fee separate), and deadline tracking with reminders. Transaction volume up to around 150 a month.

When do I need Complete?

When you are VAT registered or employ staff. Complete at £125 adds quarterly VAT returns and payroll for up to five employees including auto-enrolment, so the quarterly and monthly cycles are handled alongside the annual ones. Businesses with more staff or higher transaction volumes are quoted a fixed fee before joining.

Can you handle a partnership?

Yes. Partnerships need a partnership tax return showing the profit split and each partner's own Self Assessment. The Core package covers the partnership return and bookkeeping; each partner's personal return is added at the published £129. LLPs follow company-style accounts rules and we handle those too.

What if my transaction volume is higher than the package covers?

We check the volume from your bank statements before quoting and tell you the right band. If the business grows and the volume increases, we review quarterly and adjust from the next month with notice. There is no back-charging for a busy period.

Do you have an office in Forestdale?

No. IGI Accounting is an online-only firm. We serve Forestdale and every other UK postcode remotely, with records sent by WhatsApp or email and everything filed electronically. The absence of local premises is why the fee for small business accountants is the same in Forestdale as anywhere else in the country, and why there is nothing to visit and nothing to print.

Is small business accountants in Forestdale really the same price as elsewhere?

Yes. The fee published on this page is what a client in Forestdale pays and what a client in any other part of England pays. It is confirmed in writing before work starts and the invoice matches the quote. Where a higher package applies because your situation is more complex, we say so at the quote stage, never afterwards.
