Why IGI
What you get in Costa
No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Costa clients know the fee for limited company accounts before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.
We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Costa get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to limited company accounts.
Online only, UK based. There is no office in Costa to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in Scotland; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.
Continuity matters in limited company accounts: the person who prepared last year's work for your Costa business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.
Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Costa comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.
You stay in control of limited company accounts: drafts go to Costa clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.

About Costa
Costa is in Scotland, Scotland. Scottish taxpayers pay income tax under six Scottish bands set by the Scottish Parliament, from the 19% starter rate through 20%, 21%, 42% and 45% to the 48% top rate, applied to non-savings income. Dividends and savings are taxed at UK rates, National Insurance and Corporation Tax are UK-wide, and property purchases pay Land and Buildings Transaction Tax.

Rules that come up in this work
Crypto records and reporting
Crypto tax splits into capital gains on disposals and income on rewards, with different rates and different reporting. The £3,000 annual exempt amount and the 18% and 24% rates apply to gains; staking, mining and airdrop income is taxed at marginal income tax rates. HMRC's nudge letters to holders have increased sharply, and a voluntary disclosure before one arrives is treated far more leniently.
The 60-day property CGT return
Since April 2020 a gain on UK residential property must be reported and the tax paid within 60 days of completion through HMRC's dedicated service, separately from the annual return. Non-residents must report all UK land disposals in the same window whether or not tax is due. Getting the computation right first time matters because the figure is then carried into the Self Assessment.
Switching accountants
You can switch accountant at any point in the year. The new firm requests clearance and your records from the old one, which cannot withhold your own documents though it may hold its own working papers until its fees are settled. Agent authorisations with HMRC and Companies House are transferred, and the next deadline is picked up without a gap.
Closing a company
Striking off a company is cheap but must be done in order: stop trading, file the final accounts and CT600, pay the tax, close VAT and PAYE, distribute the remaining assets, close the bank account, then apply. Anything left in the company at dissolution passes to the Crown. Distributions up to £25,000 are taxed as capital gains; above that a formal liquidation is usually needed to keep capital treatment.
Confirmation statements and identity verification
Companies House has tightened its requirements under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act: every company needs a registered email address and an appropriate registered office, every statement includes a lawful-purpose declaration, and every director and PSC must verify their identity. The confirmation statement, due annually with a £50 fee, is where most of this is confirmed.
CIS deductions
Under the Construction Industry Scheme, contractors deduct 20% from a registered subcontractor's labour invoices, or 30% if unregistered, and pay it to HMRC. The subcontractor reclaims the deductions against their actual tax through Self Assessment, usually producing a refund because deductions are on turnover while tax is on profit. Contractors file a monthly return by the 19th.
The VAT registration threshold
VAT registration is compulsory once taxable turnover in any rolling twelve-month period exceeds £90,000, or when you expect to exceed that in the next thirty days alone. The test is rolling, not by tax year, and includes zero-rated sales. Businesses regularly cross it without noticing, and late registration means accounting for VAT on sales where it was never charged to customers.
Questions
Limited Company Accounts questions from Costa
My company is dormant. Do I still need accounts?
Yes. A dormant company still files annual accounts with Companies House, in the simplified AA02 format, and a confirmation statement. Our dormant accounts fee is £49. HMRC usually does not require a CT600 once told the company is dormant, and we handle that notification.
Do you file with iXBRL?
Yes. Both Companies House and HMRC require accounts and computations in iXBRL format, which tags every figure electronically. We produce and validate the tagged files as part of the service; you never see or pay for this separately.
Does the fee include Corporation Tax?
Yes. Both the £299 micro-entity and £449 small company packages include the Corporation Tax computation, the CT600 and electronic filing with HMRC. The standalone CT600 at £199 is for companies whose accounts are prepared elsewhere.
Can you include my personal tax return?
The £389 bundle covers micro-entity accounts, the CT600 and the director's Self Assessment return together. It is cheaper than buying them separately and ensures the dividends and salary on the personal return match the company's records exactly.
How do dividends work and how much can I take?
Dividends can only be paid from accumulated profits after Corporation Tax. We calculate the distributable reserves in your accounts and tell you the figure. Dividends need a board minute and a voucher each time; we provide templates. The personal tax on dividends depends on your other income, and the planning review covers that.
What is a director's loan account and why does it matter?
It records money moving between you and the company that is not salary or dividend. If you owe the company money at the year end and have not repaid it within nine months, the company pays 35.75% section 455 tax on the balance, refundable later. We review the account before finalising and tell you the options.
Which deadlines matter most for limited company accounts?
The next four dates that apply to limited company accounts are shown at the top of this page, calculated from today. For Costa clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.
