How it works

Management Accounts from Chase Cross, step by step

  1. Tell us your situation

A short message or call about what you do and what needs filing. We ask the questions that determine the right package and nothing more.

  2. Fixed fee in writing

You receive one price for the work, confirmed by email before anything starts. It does not change if the job takes longer than we expected.

  3. Send records, review the draft

Records come by WhatsApp or email. We prepare the draft, explain the figures in plain English and answer your questions.

  4. We file, you get the receipts

Once you approve and the fee is settled, we submit electronically and forward the HMRC or Companies House acknowledgement the same day.

Why IGI

The IGI way of working, in Chase Cross

No hourly rate and no surprise invoice. Chase Cross clients know the fee for management accounts before they send a single document, and it stays fixed.

We work to the HMRC and Companies House calendar, not an appointment diary. Clients in Chase Cross get reminders at 60, 30 and 7 days before each date that applies to management accounts.

Online only, UK based. There is no office in Chase Cross to pay for, which is why the fee is the same here as anywhere in England; the work is done by people in the UK who answer the same day.

Continuity matters in management accounts: the person who prepared last year's work for your Chase Cross business prepares this year's, and remembers what was agreed.

Plain English, with the numbers. Every draft for Chase Cross comes with a short explanation of what the figures mean and what, if anything, you should do about them.

You stay in control of management accounts: drafts go to Chase Cross clients first, with the figures explained, and nothing leaves us until you say so.

Worth knowing

Rules that come up in this work

Closing a company

A solvent company that has finished its purpose can be dissolved by voluntary strike-off: form DS01 with a £13 Companies House fee, after three months without trading and with all debts paid, final accounts and tax return filed, and assets distributed. HMRC objects to any application where returns or tax are outstanding, so the sequence matters more than the form.

Dormant companies

A dormant company is one with no significant accounting transactions in the year, where the only permitted entries are the payment for shares on incorporation, Companies House fees and penalties. It still files a confirmation statement and simplified dormant accounts every year. A bank charge or an accountant's fee paid from the company ends dormancy and requires full accounts.

The trading and property allowances

The first £1,000 of trading income and, separately, the first £1,000 of property income each year is tax free under the trading and property allowances. Below those figures no return is needed for that income. Above them you can deduct the £1,000 allowance instead of actual expenses if that is better, which suits side businesses and single-room lets with few costs.

Employer National Insurance

The cost of an employee is more than the salary. Employer National Insurance at 15% above £5,000 a year, the 3% minimum pension contribution, holiday pay, equipment and management time all come on top. The Employment Allowance of £10,500 reduces the National Insurance for most employers with more than one person on the payroll.

Workplace pensions and auto-enrolment

Workplace pension compliance is part of payroll, not separate from it. Each pay period the payroll assesses who is eligible, calculates employer and employee contributions on qualifying earnings between the lower and upper thresholds, and sends the contribution file to the scheme. The minimum total is 8%, and many employers choose to contribute more as a recruitment advantage.

Record keeping

Record keeping is a legal obligation with a penalty of up to £3,000 for failure, but its real value is in making every other filing cheaper and more defensible. Keep invoices, receipts, bank statements, mileage logs and any HMRC correspondence, digitally if you like, for five years after the relevant filing deadline for individuals and six years for companies and VAT.

Allowable expenses

An expense is allowable against trading profit if it is incurred wholly and exclusively for the business. Materials, business travel other than ordinary commuting, a proportion of home running costs, software, insurance, professional fees, bank charges and protective clothing qualify. Client entertainment, ordinary clothing, fines and the private share of mixed-use costs do not.

Questions

Management Accounts questions from Chase Cross

Will lenders and investors accept your management accounts?

Yes. Banks, invoice financiers and investors routinely ask for monthly management accounts as a condition of facilities or as part of due diligence, and our packs are in the format they expect. We can also produce the specific covenant calculations a facility requires.

Can management accounts help with Corporation Tax planning?

Yes. Because the pack shows profit accruing through the year, decisions about capital expenditure, pension contributions and dividend timing can be made before the year end rather than discovered after it. We flag these opportunities in the commentary as they arise.

Can you provide management accounts for a group or multiple branches?

Yes. Branch or entity-level packs with a consolidated view are quoted as a fixed fee based on the number of units. Many franchisees and multi-site businesses use us for exactly this, with each site's performance visible alongside the total.

How does quarterly differ from monthly?

Same content, less often. Quarterly at £99 a quarter suits stable businesses that want a regular check rather than close monitoring. Monthly suits businesses that are growing, borrowing, employing or facing margin pressure, where a quarter is too long to wait to see a problem.

When does the pack arrive?

On a fixed working day agreed with you, typically the 10th to 15th of the following month for monthly packs, provided the bookkeeping is complete by the 5th. Quarterly packs follow the quarter end on the same basis. If your records arrive late the date moves and we tell you.

Which KPIs do you report?

Those that drive your business, agreed at the start: gross margin by product or service line, revenue per employee, debtor days, stock turn, cash runway, utilisation for a service firm, average order value for a retailer. We recommend a short list and refine it over the first quarter. A dashboard with twenty numbers is one nobody reads.

Which deadlines matter most for management accounts?

The next four dates that apply to management accounts are shown at the top of this page, calculated from today. For Chase Cross clients we diarise every one of them from the day you join and send reminders before each, so the work is done in good time rather than in the last week before a penalty.

How do I get started from Chase Cross?

Message us on WhatsApp or email with a sentence about your business and what you need. We reply in working hours with any questions and a fixed fee for management accounts. Once you confirm, we tell you exactly which records to send and the work begins. Most Chase Cross clients are set up within a day.
